Kuyayky’s story began in the 1970’s when Jose Hurtado Zamudio, a university professor and musicologist, married educator and singer Edda Bonilla Peña (of the Conjunto Alma Jaujina). El mensaje de la muerte del rio Choqueyapu en las voces de los ninos cobra una dimension de urgencia sobre la vida de tantos otros rios alrededor del mundo. Rehearsing for this Sunday’s concert, this beautiful and heartbreaking song — ‘El Funeral del Río’ by Bolivian masters Luis Rico and Coco Manto.
